A boy or girl achieves this status when turning thirteen in Reform Judaism.\u00a0<\/p><p>At this age a Jew is considered by Jewish law to be able and ready to fulfill the mitzvot, the central tenet of the Jewish religion. Not only ready and able but obligated to do so. In the eyes of the religious law, he is no longer a minor but an adult both permitted to enjoy the religious privileges and responsible for the religious transgressions he may commit.
